Dorothy, living the life.
It took a few episodes into the season for it to happen, but Jululu is finally known to a larger group of people besides Lala. Everyone gathered in that picture, the main characters – excluding those in other countries or the recently-debuted Triangle – are aware of her existence, and the audience is also aware of exactly who she is. The Goddess Jewlie that gave Lala that incredible burst of idol power at the end of last episode is also Jululu, who apparently regained her true form for a brief second. Nobody’s really sure why she reincarnated as a baby just yet (besides Takara Tomy wanting to sell more toys, I assume), but everyone else getting a compact/toy so Jululu can be with them will make things a lot easier in the coming episodes. At least the stress of keeping her magical baby a secret won’t nearly kill Lala.
She already has enough trouble with her tests. Including a 13 on one of them that Kanon, the final member of Triangle, just keeps saying in front of everybody. Kanon also got to perform a song, but it was the same song that Junon and Pinon performed, so again, not really going to take the time to repost it. Though I wonder when, exactly, all three members of Triangle are going to appear on the same stage at the same time.
Mikan and Aroma were inseparable when they debuted, but Triangle is only appearing sporadically so far. Another mystery the show is holding out on, at least in the moment.
My favorite part of this episode involved Dorothy, during the Jululu meeting. Everyone’s agreeing to help out Lala with this new change to the status quo, but Dorothy ends up mentioning that she just wants the perks to her idol status that come with helping out… which Leona has to almost immediately correct her on. Dorothy’s always been one of my favorite characters, so I look forward to a future episode where the West siblings end up having her for a day.
Compared to the tempest in a teapot that was the start of S2, S3 is taking a much more leisurely pace so far. It’s not completely idol world politics nor is it completely school-based antics, but if we do have a major plot, it’s only really kicked in at a background level so far. There’s a little bit more groundwork to be laid before we know exactly where this season is going.
Mirei takes her turn at raising Jululu. And her parents return to the show!
